Rustic and elegant. Sturdy and lightweight. Curious and inviting. Like the rest of the series, the Lilium Dining Chair by Skagerak is a modern and informal piece of furniture that is suitable for most people and settings. The chair is slightly wider than a traditional dining chair, but outdoor furniture has to have to more weight and power to withstand varying weather conditions. The X-shaped frame leaves open spaces that allow the backrest and seat to give gently when you sit down.
Skagerak’s Lily outdoor collection is developed together with the renowned architect company BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group. For the outdoor collection they were inspired by the waterfronts and industrial heritage of the city Aalborg while also referencing the casual interactions of social gatherings in public spaces.
The collection is defined by combining the teak plank elements and the stainless steel, culminating with the 'x' detail at the base. The wood slats sit elegantly on top of the frame, hiding all hardware connections while creating the illusion that they are floating in place. Where needed, the teak is elegantly curved and shaped to provide extra comfort. The proportions of the lounge chair are slightly widened, adding flexibility to the way it is used. The extra space is a perfect resting spot for a book or cup of coffee. The furniture has been designed to either be combined as a set or function as standalone.
