The HAL Lounge Chair from Vitra is Jasper Morrison's reinterpretation of the traditional upholstered four-legged armchair with a high backrest. Despite its compact dimensions, the lounge chair is exceptionally comfortable. It comes with a soft loose seat, neck cushion and integrated seat cushion.

Constructed from a fibrerglass reinforced plastic shell encased in polyurethane foam with a natural or dark varnished oak base, the HAL Lounge Chair is a durable and timeless furniture piece with an honest approach to form and construction. Thanks to its understated aesthetic, the HAL Lounge Chair is extremely versatile, suited for use at home or in public spaces and can stand either alone, in pairs or in groups. 

The HAL Lounge Chair can be paired with the HAL Ottoman, allowing users to enjoy its full comfort with their feet up. The lounge chair is available with two different bases, two different cushion options and upholstery options in five different Vitra fabric groups. Chair and body - fibreglass-reinforced plastic shell made from post-industrial recycled ABS plastic, encased in moulded polyurethane foam.

Neck cushion filling - ball fibres and siliconised fibres.

Filling loose seat cushion - polyurethane foam.

Base - natural oak or dark oak from Western Europe or Poland; connection between shell and base made of die-cast aluminium, powder-coated in dim grey.

Seat heights - armchair with loose seat cushion 420 mm (320 mm with applied load, measured in accordance with EN 1335-1); armchair with integrated seat cushion 400mm (320 mm with applied load, measured in accordance with EN 1335-1)

Upholstery - Volo F60 (15% polyamide, 85% new wool), Cosy 2 F80 (20% polyamide, 80% new wool), Dumet F80 (9% polyamide, 46% cotton, 8% linen, 22% wool, 15% rayon), Credo F120 (5% polyamide, 95% new wool)

Glides - fitted with plastic glides for carpet. Felt glides for hard floors are available upon request.

Jasper Morrison is one of Britain’s most successful and well renowned industrial designers. He is best known for a design approach that makes hard-working products appear aesthetically quiet. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he coined the term 'super normal’ - it means a good example of understated, useful and responsible design. To Morrison it answers the question of what ‘good design’ really should be.
