The Eames House Bird is a classic Objet D'art from the 1960's based on native American folk art. In 2018 it has been re-released in solid walnut wood, it celebrates the beautiful natural grain of a material that was used extensively in Mid-Century furniture but now is a more precious commodity.
Charles and Ray Eames augmented the interior “collage” of the Eames House with numerous objects brought back from their extensive travels. The figure of a black wooden bird, evidently one of their most prized objects of American folk art from the Applachian mountain region of the eastern United States, has stood in the centre of their living room for over 60 years.
This Eames House Bird is made from solid walnut wood with a clear matt lacquered finish with feet in black powder-coated steel wire. Based on the original artefact and in co-operation with the Eames Family, the House Bird can now become the talisman of your home.
