The Base Knife Set is a collaboration between Belgian brand Serax and Studio Piet Boon. Beautifully made from brushed stainless steel and acacia wood, the Base Knife Set combines both functionality and design which will suit any kitchen interior. The four knives are made from one piece of steel, which creates a sculptural and streamlined look. They slot easily into the curved acacia wood base with a central magnet, which ensures that the knives are always stored perfectly vertically. The acacia base has a simple line system, which makes it easy to distinguish which knives sit in the block.
The four different knives included in the set are a chef’s knife, carving knife, bread knife and a Japanese santoku knife. All of the knives are the same length, which perfectly aligns their height in the base.
After his studies at the technical school in Amsterdam, Piet Boon began his career as a building contractor, but he would soon evolve into a high-profile Dutch designer. Today, Studio Piet Boon is an internationally operating total concept design company, where a team of architects, stylists and design professionals are continuously driven to exceed expectations, to stay true to the studio’s reputation as the most renowned Dutch design studio in the world.
