Form and Refine's A Line Storage Bench is an updated version of the classic stowaway bench. Functionality meets clean form to create a solid and versatile bench with lighter, slightly reduced dimensions and minimalistic attitude.

A Line Bench is practical with a large internal area for storage – consisting of two separated compartments. The top slides open via a natural leather pull handle and a notch in the oak construction holds the lid in place while used. Four svelte oak legs raise the bench and lightens the appearance, while the overall design is still solid and robust.

This versatile bench works either as a stand-alone item in a hallway, at the end of a bed or even in a dining setting. It comes in white oiled oak, oiled oak and black-stained oak. Also available as the smaller A Line Storage Bench 68.

Herman Studio on the design: “The stowaway bench is a reinterpretation of a classic and highly versatile piece of furniture. Particularly the way in which it opens with a leather strap is an important element of interaction with the bench.”

This product is designed by
Herman Studio

Herman Studio was founded in 2012 by two architects; Helle Herman Mortensen and Jonas Herman Pedersen. Their work spans from textile, ceramics, lighting and furniture design to interior design.

A characteristic of their design is each objects’ clear distinct silhouette. Working with an identifiable outline for each object, makes the design stand out simply, clearly and recognisably. Their great passion for design is in addition to aesthetics especially about construction and the use of materials. They work using a methodical and sequential process between sketches, models and prototypes. Their design process often starts by studying construction methods which plays a central role throughout the entire design process in their own workshop.
