Form & Refine have released a smaller iteration of the classic A Line Storage Bench. The updated version of the classic stowaway bench is 68 cm long compared to the 111 cm long original. Functionality meets clean form to create a solid and versatile bench with a lighter, slightly reduced dimension and minimalistic attitude.

A Line is practical with a large internal compartment for storage. The top slides open via a natural leather pull handle and a notch in the oak construction holds the lid in place while used. Four svelte oak legs raise the bench and lightens the appearance, while the overall design is still solid and robust.

This versatile bench works best as a stand-alone item in a hallway. Store your shoes or clothing accessories in it, and then use it as a place to sit to put them on. It comes in white oiled oak, oiled oak or black stained oak.

Herman Studio on the design: “The stowaway bench is a reinterpretation of a classic and highly versatile piece of furniture. Particularly the way in which it opens with a leather strap is an important element of interaction with the bench.”

This product is designed by
Herman Studio

Herman Studio was founded in 2012 by two architects; Helle Herman Mortensen and Jonas Herman Pedersen. Their work spans from textile, ceramics, lighting and furniture design to interior design.

A characteristic of their design is each objects’ clear distinct silhouette. Working with an identifiable outline for each object, makes the design stand out simply, clearly and recognisably. Their great passion for design is in addition to aesthetics especially about construction and the use of materials. They work using a methodical and sequential process between sketches, models and prototypes. Their design process often starts by studying construction methods which plays a central role throughout the entire design process in their own workshop.

Functional and stylish

Good design, well made, functions really well and looks great in its place. Very happy with it. Also great service from "Really Well Made", which hasn't always been my experience with other contemporary furniture suppliers! Definitely be ordering from them again

Thank you Hugh,

We look forward to welcoming you back as a customer anytime!

Superb quality and great service

The bench is beautifully made -- a work of art in itself but also solid and reliable. We love it and cannot recommend it highly enough. The service throughout the ordering process was also second to none.
