Ana Kraš’ Bonbon Shade for HAY is a hand-woven lantern that uses an original weaving technique to create a textured lampshade. Inspired by her drawings, Ana perceived the lines as threads that could fill the blank area around a lamp, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces that were featured in numerous art shows and publications. In her lampshade collaboration with HAY, she uses the same idea of wrapping cotton-wool yarn around powder-coated steel frames to create individual lampshades that vary slightly in their appearance and texture.
New York-based designer Ana Kraš’ Bonbon Lamps are handmade works of art, produced from hand-woven yarn that has been wrapped around a steel frame. With its fields of shifting colour, it is a compelling design object when the light is turned off and maintains a distinctly different aesthetic profile when illuminated. Striking a harmonious balance between industrial production and artisanal handicraft, Bonbon offers a contemporary yet poetic design in the form of a multi-purpose light that serves both functional and decorative uses. These large and medium-sized pendant lamps come in two colour variants, one for each size. “We really wanted the quality of Bonbon to feel as authentic as it was when Ana used to make each lamp herself, and to showcase the beautiful contrast between the industrial frame and the handwoven, artisanal craftwork.” - Mette Hay
Bonbon is also available as a table or a floor lamp.
